Shanghai Traffic

Yes, I am in China indeed. The streets are packed with cars, tricycles, bicycles, motorcycles, pedestrians and an immense number of blue construction-trucks. The common goal is to travel at utmost speed on the path of least resistence- even if this is in the opposite lane. Whatever stands in the way will mercilessly be honked at and ignored- fair enough, why does it stand in the way in the first place?
I am here together with Wolfgang from Wok Media (www.wokmedia.com) to research production facilities for new design pieces. Today we visited a spectacular bronze and fiberglass-casting factory (see picture). The possibilities in China seem endless, the only thorn in the eye is the negligent (or non-existent) environmental awareness and controlling. Where did you say does all the rubbish go? - At least with European production shifting East we can fulfill the Kyoto-Protocol and our other environmental goals and feel good about ourselves. And isn’t that a nice feeling?
