Isamu Noguchi – Moerenuma Park
Yesterday we accompanied the S-Air team to Moerenuma Park, designed by Isamu Noguchi. The entire park is designed as a sculpture on a former landfill site. The park is very graphical and, despite being utterly artificial, soothes the mind almost like ‘real countryside’ does. Even the toilet buildings are sculptures and raise questions about the necessity of ugly buildings that clutter so much of the country.
Noguchi died before the park was finished and although this sounds tragic it is put into perspective by the fact that he was 84 (!) when he took on this project! What an inspiration.
