Isamu Noguchi - Moerenuma Park

Yesterday we accompanied the S-Air team to Moerenuma Park, designed by Isamu Noguchi. The entire park is designed as a sculpture on a former landfill site. The park is very graphical and, despite being utterly artificial, soothes the mind almost like ‘real countryside’ does. Even the toilet buildings are sculptures and raise questions about the necessity of ugly buildings that clutter so much of the country.

Noguchi died before the park was finished and although this sounds tragic it is put into perspective by the fact that he was 84 (!) when he took on this project! What an inspiration.

Hunting for an exhibition space

An old couple looked up when we entered the potential exhibition room. For all I know they might have worked in this office for 50 years. We were intruders in this crumbling world where the time had slowed steadily since the seventies.

Icon - Issue 53 - November 2007

There is a big article about my work in the November issue of Icon that has just come out. They have also printed the first letter by Alessandro Mendini as well as my response to it.

There is treasure everywhere

The sun has come out again and, while cycling to the studio, I passed a garage for funeral-cars. They even moved the dragon-car into the sunshine for me.The wood-carvings are made by hand and plated with gold afterwards. Wonderful!
